Security company Fortinet has warned mobile phone users of a new worm which targets SymbianOS powered devices. The malware requires authorisation from the user before it can install, but once it does the worm harvests numbers stored in the address book and to other random numbers on the same operator network.

ACMA Places Obligation On Content Providers Print E-mail

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has established new rules for providers of MA15+ and R18+ content on mobile phones and the Internet. The declaration places the obligation on the content provider to check the age of the individual accessing the content.

Digital Services company, Hyro, has provided the technology for FOXTEL to put its electronic program guide onto mobile phones. The software interface requires that a downloadable application is installed on the user's 3G phone to allow them to browse and search upcoming FOXTEL programs.

Telstra warns that phones damaged when they are dropped, thrown, dunked in the toilet or gnawed by the dog are not covered by warranty, only manufacturing and phone faults will get you a sympathetic hearing when you phone is damaged.
