Toshiba has released new notebook computers for the Australian market and is targeting both the business and consumer sectors with better looks on the outside and better specs on the inside. A range of 16 consumer and eight business models will be released in April and throughout May, 2007 in what the company calls an "unprecedented release".

Now the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray battle is over, Acer has moved to announce two high-end multimedia notebooks that deliver the sort of high-quality HD experience that can take advantage of it. Accordingly, the US$64 billion PC maker has given the new Aspires a blue tinge to suit.

There's no pricing or even a real date for availability yet, but ASUS says it will make it's low-cost computing gadget the EEE available with Windows before the end of the month. Previously, the sub-A$500 computer was available only with a version of Linux pre-installed.
 
Lenovo Ultraportable Has SSD Standard Print E-mail

The new ThinkPad ultraportable from Lenovo has a starting weight as low as 1.3 kilos (2.9 pounds) and is less than 2cm thick at its thinnest point, but what sets it apart from other small form factor notebooks is that it doesn't come with a hard disk drive, well not a traditional one anyway. The new Lenovo X300 comes with a SSD (Solid State Disc) drive using Flash memory rather than the traditional spinning disk storage found in most computer equipment today.
