UPDATED: Kai Oistamo, head of Nokia's
Mobile Phones business unit has confirmed that Qualcomm's licensing terms for the proposed Sanyo, Nokia joint venture were unacceptable. "The terms imposed on the proposed new Nokia-Sanyo company
would have limited our freedom," he told Reuters.
Could Nokia's licensing disputes with Qualcomm be behind its retreat from the planned joint venture with Sanyo? Just days after announcing the latest additions to
its line of CDMA phones, Nokia has announced that the deal to get together with Japanese company, Sanyo, will not proceed.

Acer Computer Australia, the current leader in Australian notebook
PC shipments has won the rights to supply the National Australia Bank (NAB) desktop
and notebook computers for the next 12 months. The contract is testament to the
work Acer has put in developing its ability to service large corporates.

Qualcomm has filed an Intellectual Property suit against the
world's leading mobile phone manufacturers, Nokia. The complaint alleges that "certain
mobile telephone handsets, wireless communication devices and components" infringe
one Qualcomm patents.
