Boingo Goes Flat On Global Roaming

Users can now get access to more than a hundred thousand WiFi acess points around the world for as little as US$39 a month with the launch of a flat rate Boingo Wireless plan - Boingo Global.The new service promises international business travelers access for one low monthly cost with no roaming charges and no per-minute fees. Priced at US$39 (€29) per month, Boingo claims its new global roaming plan is the most cost effective in the world. With no incremental roaming fees, Boingo Global is also the world's first truly global flat-rate service. "The days of per-minute charges and incremental roaming fees for Wi-Fi Internet access are over," said Dave Hagan, Boingo president and CEO. "Traveling for business is hard enough without having to watch the clock while you're trying to be productive." Boingo is partnering with France's Hub télécom and Norway's Oslo Lufthavn Tele & Data AS (OLTD) - two of Europe's leading Wi-Fi providers - to bring Boingo Global to market in Europe and potential surfers can actually sign up at hot spots in those two countries. Others will have to go online until later this year when hot spot signup coverage is rolled out across Europe. In France, secure sign up for Boingo Global is available at 48 Hub télécom hot spots in airports and hotels, including Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Orly International Airport and Holiday Inn/Express hotels nationwide. Travelers wishing to sign up in Norway can do so at any of the OLTD "IP zones" at the six main airports in Norway, Oslo International Airport and Bergen, Bodoe, Stavanger, Tromsoe, Trondheim and additional six medium-sized airports. "This service brings a new option and great value that nicely complements the hourly and daily Wi-Fi services offered by OLTD to our travelers," said Morten Eldevik, CEO of OLTD. "Our partnership with Boingo has the potential to change Wi-Fi services throughout Europe and it's exciting to be a part of that." Travelers who purchase Boingo Global can download the GoBoingo software during the signup process. GoBoingo is a lightweight utility for Windows that identifies Boingo-accessible partner hot spots and allows the user to log in with a single click using their Boingo account, simplifying access to dozens of partner networks across the world.
