New Toshiba Qosmio Slightly Smaller Print E-mail

Toshiba has announced a 15.4-inch Qosmio, the F45-AV412 with a starting price less than US$1700. The new Piano white notebook feautres a HD DVD-ROM drive, cutting-edge Dolby surround sound technology through Harmon Kardon speakers, Draft-N Wi-Fi and 1080i display capability.

Toshiba's Qosmio range is designed to deliver the ultimate in visual and audio entertainment in a portable laptop device. Built around a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen with TruBrite display, users can either view content on the device or connect the Qosmio's HDMI port to a High Definition TV to expand the functionality of their home entertainment center.

Once connected to an HDTV, the Qosmio F45 can deliver a 1080i movie with all of the quality users expect from HD DVD.

"As the newest member of Toshiba's premier multimedia series, the Qosmio F45-AV412 is a remarkable machine in terms of putting high definition and multimedia capabilities into people's hands," said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.

"You really can't understand what mobile entertainment has to offer until you have experienced the quality provided by the Qosmio F45."

The laptop has two Harman Kardon Bass Reflex stereo speakers, a built-in subwoofer and Dolby Home Theater technology. THe speaker configuration is designed to deliver Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker for aking the most of digital content such as music, movies and games.

With draft 802.11n wireless networking at up to five times faster than 802.11g Wi-Fi the new Qosmio can download large files, such movies and television shows in a fraction of the time.
