Motorola releases the MOTOROKR E6 to Australia - music, gaming, video... Oh! It's a PDA.

Released in the US last December it's taken the Motorokr E6 seven months to work its way through the Middle East and Asia to arrive in Australia with a price tag of A$563. The E6 is a candy bar PDA phone with touch sensitive screen and stylus, but at 14.5mm thick, with camera, music player and full screen video playback, you won't think of the MOTOROKR E6 as a stuffy old PDA.

The stlying is all mobile phone. Dedicated music keys, expandable memory, video capabilities and productivity tools combine in this phone as a fusion of work and play. Motorola descrivbes it as a 'go anywhere, do anything mobile device'.

Designwise the E6 is much like the MOTOSLVR handset except its large 240x320 display is touch senstive and capable of video

"MOTOROKR E6's greatest advantage lies in its stylish design and its unique mix of lifestyle-focused features," said Andrew Volard, Managing Director South Pacific, Mobile Devices, Motorola. "This impressive handset has been specifically designed to provide the best in mobile entertainment, allowing users to create and share their experiences."

The 2.0 megapixel camera has a 8x zoom, and is capable of high-quality video recording . You can capture up to five hours of MPEG4 video clips with the removable storage in place. The video playback is capable of MPEG-4 / Realplayer playback and there is album management capabiliites for your pictures.

The MOTOROKR E6 also supports most audio formats for music playback as well as the FM radio and has a standard 3.5mm plug for your headphones. Integrated stereo Bluetooth support also adds the option of wireless earphones as an optional extra.

On the PDA side, you can collect email from a POP3 account, but there's no native Exchange or other enterprise-class email support.

There is however a nifty little program that will read a business-card and store the contact details to your address book. Being a touch screen device, you will find handwriting recognition software as well. And the device comes standard with a reader for Microsoft documents such as Word and Excel.
