Page 1 of 2 Toshiba has announced more notebooks driving High Definition DVD
optical drives deeper into its range. The Satellite P205 range announced this
week have sophisticated, Metallic Blue lids encasing a mid-range desktop replacement machine that will make more than the most demanding power users happy.
The
P205 is a desktop replacement laptop notebooks not to be confused with
the X205 announced last week. The X205 is a gaming PC on the move and
is all tricked out with NVIDIA grunt, mega RAM, beefy CPU and stuff,
the P205 in contrast is a more sedate machine designed for mobile
professionals.
Instead of a T7100 Core 2 Duo
Processor for example the top of the range Satellite P205 has a T5450
Core 2 Duo under the hood. Certainly more than adequate for ordinary
mortals to watch High Def DVDs and do some Video editing, but serious
gamers are looking for the absolute max.
"With the inclusion of dual core processor
technology and an HD DVD-ROM drive, the new Satellite P205 series has
stepped beyond other notebooks in its class," said Jeff Barney, vice
president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America
Information Systems, Inc. "Users
now have the ability to enjoy all of the unique high-definition
multimedia features that the Satellite P205 series provides with
greater wireless functionality and speed, while using less battery
power."
Teamed up with Vista Home Ultimate and a glossy TruBrite
1440x900 (WXGA+) resolution display to make the most of the DVD the
Satellite P205 gets Dolby Sound Room which is three Dolby technologies
(Dolby Digital, Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker). The effect
is designed to impress as the Dolby support delivers "amazing virtual
surround sound" from the laptop's Harman Kardon stereo speakers or any
pair of headphones.
Toshiba says the notebook supports high speed WiFi thanks to the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965a/g/draft-n supporting draft 802.11n wireless connectivity.
The
casing features an Onyx Blue Metallic lid and a newly designed rounded
body design with a full-size keyboard and a widescreen mouse touchpad.
Each Satellite P205 notebook has a built-in Webcam and
microphone.
There are three Satellite P205 in the range.
All available immediately in the US. The S6347 has a starting price of
$1449.99, while less configurations of the Satellite P205 notebook
series, such as the Satellite P205-S6337 and Satellite P205-S6347, are
available with prices starting at $999.99.
The following configurations demonstrate the various
