Nokia To Release In-Car Speakerphone Print E-mail

Nokia Automotive is planning a global release for its first BlueTooth handsfree speaker phone, the HF-300, sometime this Quarter for something like €90, excluding taxes.

The device will be compatible with a wide range of Nokia mobile devices supporting Bluetooth Specification 1.1 and higher and Handfree Profile 1.0 and higher. The detachable speakerphone incorporates a speaker and microphone that uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to cancel out excess noises and echoes.

"We are committed to providing convenient communications in the car - and out of it too. The beauty of the Nokia Speakerphone HF-300 is in its mobility, it goes where you go, when you want to talk. We are excited to have the speakerphone as part of our expanding enhancements portfolio to meet the needs of our consumers," said Wolfgang Gärtner, senior category manager, Nokia Automotive.

The battery operated device has a talk time of up to 20 hours and will automatically turn itself off after five minutes after the connection to the mobile device has been severedin case you leave it turned on. The 80gram device can be clipped to a car sunvisor or mounted to a surface with rubber feet.

Nokia says illuminated keys provide easy use "without all the fuss of blinking lights", but the device does have an LED battery indicator will light up to alert you when battery runs low.
