People
Telecom says it has done a deal with mobile phone retailer Crazy John's
to provide its fixed voice services and wholesale broadband offerings.
Crazy
John's, which has had a protracted and bitter falling out with Telstra
Mobile, claims to be the largest independent phone retailer in the
country. The new wholesale agreement will see it resell People Telecom
voice telephony and inbound services to more than 130 Crazy John's
retail outlets across Australia.
Since falling out with Telstra,
the company has also announced a deal with mobile phone carrier
Vodafone to provide mobile services through its retail outlets.
The
-speed broadband deal will be a new area for Crazy John's which says it
plans to use when it launches an expansion into the consumer and SMB
broadband market later this year.
People Telecom CEO, John
Stanton said: "We are excited to have been able to win the Crazy John's
business on a competitive basis. Crazy John's have consistently
demonstrated themselves to be a dynamic and successful distributor of
mobile telecoms services across Australia and People Telecom looks
forward to contributing to their further success and diversification
into new business areas."
He also claimed People Telecom planned
to further expand its wholesale business by continuing to aggregate
traffic from smaller telcos and ISPs, and expected to add several
additional wholesale customers early in 2007-08.
