New Compaq Notebooks Offer Mobile Broadband

HP has strengthened its business notebook portfolio with the introduction of two new notebook series, the HP Compaq 6710 series and HP Compaq 6910p. The new laptops are the first on the Australian market to deliver the new Intel Centrino Pro Mobile technology, according to the vendor. Centrino Pro is Intel's business-focused mobile platform and it offers corporate level management and security systems to make mobile computers more attractive to enterprise IT departments. The built-in remote management and proactive security features in these notebooks can be accessed via HP's Out of Band Management Console which is a component of HP's Software's PC Configuration Management Solution that makes these laptops efven more attractive to enteprrise IT departmentents. The PCs are not just manageable and secure, they are designed to last the distance and able to stand up to the heavy and sometimes demanding use of life on the road. The two models both come with HP DuraKeys to withstand the heavy use business notebooks get -- the DuraKeys are up to 50 times more resistant to visible wear than traditional keyboards. The notebooks also have things like HP QuickLook, which offers single touch access to frequently used applications likeemail, calendars and contact information. In addition to 802.11n (draft) WiFi and Bluetooth, these notebooks come with a choice of 3G mobile broadband connectivity options from a choice of carriers and technologies, HP currently offers UMTS/HSDPA technology with select mobile operators' networks in Australia. HP Compaq 6910p series has a quoted battery life of up to five hours and 45 minutes and a starting weight of only 2.0 kg. With an RRP sticker of A$2,399 for the base model, the 6710 series is designed for on-the-move productivity. The Ultra-slim MultiBay II drive bay allows users to swap optical drives for increased storage or optimal travel weight. HP Compaq 6710 series sports a 15.4-inch widescreen (anti-glare or HP BrightView) display and is priced for bulk deployments at a starting price of just A$1,399. Both models are available immediately. There are also plans to release the Ultra-Light (2000) and the High Performance (8000) range of HP Compaq Business notebooks into the Australian market and these will be available from late July with pricing and product details likely to be distributed on release.
