Yellow Cabs
Queensland has launched a new booking service that will make it easier
and cheaper for custoemrs to use their monbile phones to get cab.
The taxi company is integrating the Pocket Portal "Mobile Booker"
application from MTX into
its
booking services to reduce the overheads involved with booking a taxi.
The new system will mean that Yellow Cabs doesn't have to process a
voice call
reducing the load on its call centre operations.
For the customers it means never having to wait on the phone
significantly reducing the cost of the call. Customers pay only for the
cost of a single SMS text message to make a
booking.
The company behind the system, a subsidiary of Broad Investments
believes that once customers begin to realize this is the cheapest,
quickest and easiest way of booking a
cab by
phone, it is expected that Pocket Portal will change the long term
behaviour of
the cab
booking public.
The Pocket Portal provides consumers with the option of downloading a series of
booking forms to their mobile phone. Once downloaded, the forms sit locally on
the
handset, allowing customers to enter their booking details for multiple
pick-ups, and then
booking any cab from the Yellow Cabs fleet with the click of a button.
Neill Ford, the MD of Yellow Cabs Brisbane said: "Yellow Cabs is responsive
to
customer needs, in the ever increasing use of mobile phones to book cabs and
sees
Mobile Booker as the next logical step in customer service".
Yellow Cabs, which takes approximately
600,000 bookings hopes to convert as much as 20% of these bookings to the Pocket Portal services over the next 24 months.
"Yellow Cabs has always prided itself in making the latest technology available
to its
customer base and is confident Mobile Booker will assist in busy times to avoid
congestion in the Call Centre," said Ford.
