While the entire industry was expecting shipment delays this
quarter due to a tightening of supply for certain notebook related
components, that's nothing likethe delays Dell COmputer is reportedly
experiencing thanks to a few problems associated with its newlook
colour range of Inspiron laptops.
According to a report in the Taiwan-based new site, DigiTimes
the shipment delay problems plaguing Dell may be worse than expected,
with a shortage of the consumer notebook models likely to last into
October or even November, according to sources there.
The company has blamed painting problems associated with the new
colour range as one of the main reasons for the long delays in the
shipping of its XPS M1330 models and in fact the Taiwan division of the
company even went to the point of inviting the media into its lab to
explain the quality control proceedures in the painting of the color
notebooks.
The word is that putting no less than eight different
colors in the range is proving more difficult than anticipateed and the
copmany might be wishing it went with a more modest four choices as
Sony did with it's latest CR-series notebooks.
In response to
the shipping problems, Dell's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore
said that the company is focusing on improving the situation and will
deliver the products to customers as soon as possible.
