Fujitsu PC Australia has announced it is teaming up the LifeBook
Q2010 with an embedded Sierra Wireless MC8755V PCI Express Mini Card
module to provide built-in connection to HSDPA networks.
The specs on the A$3,899, Q2010 are sweet with the little device casting a profile of just 19 millimetres and an amazingly light weight of barely one kilogram. On the downside is the modest Intel Core Solo processor and the fact that this configuration will only give you 1.7 hours battery life. If you want to work all day you will have to option up to the 6-cell Li-Ion battery for up to 8.0hrs battery life.
David Niu, Product Manager Fujitsu PC Australia said "Consumers can break free from the restrictions set by WiFi hotspots and broadband wires, and enjoy enhanced download speeds of up to 1.8Mbps (if the network can take it) today. And as Fujitsu has taken the liberty in being the world's first to incorporate dual digital array microphones into the LifeBook Q2010, it is now be used like a phone, complete with SMS capabilities. The age of the all-in-one telecommunication device has arrived in the quintessential form of the LifeBook Q2010."
The Sierra Wireless MC8755V PCI Express Mini Card embedded module is fully integrated into the LifeBook Q2010, providing customers with the ability to wirelessly connect to their email, the Internet, or online applications with HSDPA network, anytime, anywhere. For use in areas where HSDPA is not available, the MC8755V embedded module is also compatible with UMTS networks and GPRS networks, enabling worldwide roaming for business travellers.
Jin Pak, Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific for Sierra Wireless, said "Integrated Sierra Wireless 3G embedded modules improve the mobile user's experience by simplifying the process of getting online virtually anywhere at any time. The integrated module is easy to use and the fast data speeds available with HSDPA offer significant benefits to mobile professionals, who can wirelessly access online information quickly and easily. Sierra Wireless is pleased to work with Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific to deliver the advantages of embedded 3G connectivity."
