Hewlett Packard has rolled out a raft of new handhelds and a handful of
notebooks in a massive product announcement that included no less than
59 new products including software and enterprise focussed utilities.
Chief amongst the new features in the iPaq range was the inclusion of
3G connectivity and GPS, but Enterprise IT managers will be well
pleased with a number of management and customisation utilities that
eases the job of managing a large fleet of mobile devices. There are
also almost three dozen handheld accessories on the announcement list
In all there were five new handhelds (see list at bottom) and three new
new laptops with screen sizes ranging from a 14.1-inch widescreen on
the HP Compaq 6520,
display; to the HP Compaq 6820 with its 17-inch
widescreen display. In the middle the the HP Compaq 6720 has a 15.4-inch widescreen.
The new iPaq 900 and iPaq 600 are available in
tri-band
UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE, in addition to Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional have 3-megapixel cameras.
The iPaq 900 is a QWERTY device.
The laptops are well spec'd with Intel Core
2 Duo processor but while extact pricing isn't set in every region the arly indication looks pretty competitive.
