Mobile operator 3 will be the first Australian carrier to offer users a
Windows Mobile 6 upgrade available to existing Palm Treo 750 users.
Users who have been waiting for Treo 750's with Windows can sign up to
a $36 per month plan with $29 Cap and a $20 minimum monthly spend over
24
months.
The free upgrade requires a download direct from Palm's website (the
address is below). The phones are X-Series enabled and running on 3's
HSDPA network, the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 makes
the Palm Treo 750 the perfect handset for business professionals, says
3.
The Windows 6 operating system teamed with the high speed HSDPA network make it easy to access business critical
files and documents from your home or office PC while on
the road. The OS also supports a simplified handset setup if you want to use the device as a modem, says 3 and the new
Internet Sharing program in Windows Mobile 6 allows for simple connection to
the internet when simultaneously using the device as a modem Data + X-Series.
"Offering the latest Windows Mobile platform in
parallel with 3's
competitive data pricing is just another way we are delivering high speed,
affordable Internet to business customers on the go," Michael Cheshire,
General Manager Business Sales, 3,
said.
"3 is
committed to offering its customers the very latest in mobile software
technology at an affordable price. 3's
customers can now experience fast and secure mobile data connectivity across
the Windows Mobile platform while they are on the road," Michael Cheshire
said.
"In its latest offering, 3 has joined with Palm to
offer users a smart phone with industry leading mobile broadband speeds,
wireless email, Web access and rich media content all in one device on the
Windows Mobile platform. It is the ideal tool for businesses with a mobile
workforce," Michael Cheshire said.
