Telstra Gets New i-Mate Exclusive

Not only is Telstra the first operator globally to release the new i-mate Ultimate 8502 and Ultimate 9502 business phones, it has deal to distribute these devices to Australian users on an exclusive basis. i-mate is a leading Windows Mobile handset maker and the two new devices have generally similar features, but significantly different form factors. The 8502 is acandybar with a full QWERTY keyboard on the front while the 9502 hides its keyboard away under a sidekick-style slide. "We don't believe that one size fits all. We offer a full range of superior Windows Mobile powered devices. We then customise these devices to suit the unique requirements of individual customers. Add to that our range of innovative and free i-Q solutions, together with our extensive support and you have an exceptional total solution that's hard to beat," said i-mate CEO and Founder Jim Morrison. Both run the Windows Mobile 6 Professional operating system and have similarly exemplary document and synchronisation capabilities, and advanced features like Direct Video Out allowing to blast your audience by connecting the handset to a digital projector or TV to run presentations and video calls. They also have CIO-friendly features like Custom i-Q for customisation and Secure i-Q so your IT department can remotely lock and wipe the Ultimate device when you leave it in a taxi after that late Friday night dinner meeting. The phones will be available on the 3.5g Telstra Next G network and the company says they are the first mobile handsets on the Next G network to offer high speed data uploading, or HSUPA, as well as the more familiar HSDPA downloading. This is important to allow users to send emails with large document attachments and for other enterprise applications. Holly Kramer, Group Managing Director, Telstra Product Management said: "The devices were chosen for their ability to showcase the power of Telstra's Next G network, the world's largest and most advanced national 3GSM wireless broadband network," adding that the devices are rated at downlink speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and uplink speeds of 1.9Mbps.
