Motorola and Optus Communications have teamed up to launch of
Screen3 a service already available over seas which pushes content
direct to the home screen of Motorola phones. The content service
will be available on all RAZR2 V9 and KRZR1 handsets
connected to the carrier.
Screen3 can be used to deliver news,
sports, entertainment and other premium content and services
directly to consumers via their mobile device. The advantage is
that it can happen anytime and without any interaction by the user
-- there are 'no buttons to push, no browsers to launch', as the
announcement says.
This makes it perfect for getting up-to-date news, weather and
financial information, but it also suits music and entertainment
subscriptions
as the content is easily accessible and always visible. The content scrolls continually across the bottom of the home screen like a news ticker and the userneedsonly to select which content they want to access to be taken directly to it.
Optus is the first Australian carrier to offer Screen3 and is making the service available in conjunction with iTouch and News
Digital Media.
Tim Pagram, Managing Director iTouch Asia Pacific, said, “The Screen3 solution is a great way to keep Australians informed.
Services such as news direct from NEWS.com.au, entertainment
updates and travel and weather forecasts will be accessible 24
hours a day.”
The service uses a “smart
synchronisation” technology to make sure that only the latest and
freshest content is delivered and displayed. There will be an initial nine channels of information including ARIA Charts Top 10, Motorola Artist of the Month, Artist Of
The Month exclusive mobile content and music industry news
on the tunes front. news including local, global, financial and sporting news from The Australian as well as phone content such as ring tones, wallpapers and
games
will also be available.
“Screen3 is another reason why you will never leave
home without your Motorola phone. Motorola’s Screen3 solution is designed to delight consumers with how easy it can be
to receive the news and information they want on their mobile
phones," said Andrew Volard, Managing Director, Motorola South
Pacific.
“By placing relevant, targeted content right on the home
screen, Screen3 not only makes it accessible, it makes
mobile content irresistible” added Volard.
