Samsung has unveiled the world’s smallest 3G mobile, the Z500.

One of the biggest sticking points to the 3G roll-out in Australia has been the lack of handset choice, but as 3G gathers momentum around the world, we are seeing more options reaching the local market.

Latest is the Z500 which combines a 1 Megapixel camera with flash, an MP3 music player that can handle AAC and AAC+, Bluetooth, email, and syncML connectivity, USB, 64 polyphonic and MP3 ring tones.

The phone also has a staggering 50MB internal memory plus access to more with an external Transflash memory card.

The small, compact clamshell design weighs only 959g and is 89 x 44.5 x 24.5mm in size, making it just a little thicker than the Sony Ericsson (which is not a clamshell) and a whole lot shorter.

“With Samsung Mobile continuing its commitment to providing consumers with the best in quality, design and technology, consumers will continue to marvel at and experience the very best in mobile phone technology” said Josh Delgado, General Manager, Telecommunications, Samsung.

The Z500’s cutting edge features include:
