A recent survey by Optus Communications has found that increasing numbers of Australian businesses are adding mobile and remote access services to their employees.
The annual survey undertaken by Optus Communications surveyed 71 senior IT&T managers from small, medium and large commercial and government organisations with an IP network.
The results showed a surprisingly high rate of support for mobile, WLAN and VPN access for workers. The survey found that 37 per cent of businesses provide access to corporate networks via wireless or mobile connections and that remote access is becoming pervasive with 83 per cent of businesses providing IP VPN access to home workers.
The survey also found an increase in companies deploying Voice over IP (47 per cent) and videoconferencing (27 per cent).
