Samsung Electronics is sick an tired of companies ripping off its idea and is reportedly preparing to file lawsuits against a number of mobile phone handset makers in Taiwan, mainland China and Hong Kong.
A number of companies, including Taiwan's Tatung, Sampo, and DNET, as well as Hitachi of Japan, are said to be in the lawyer’s sights.
Samsung alleges these companies have copied its products and breached its patents, even leaked secret Samsung documents.
At issue are a number of phones similar to its own D508, E708, and E720 models, including DNET's DG212, Tatung's TC809, Hitachi's HTG-S208 and more than one of Sampo's phones according to reports.
The first round of legal action should begin some time this month with a view to winning public apologies from retailers and dealers who have sold the offending cell phones.
Tatung has apparently said: “Don’t look at us”, saying Samsung ought to address its concerns to its contract manufacturers which it has made responsible for any intellectual property violations when making phones.
