ImageJabra has released what is probably the best featured Bluetooth headset on the market. The Jabra BT800 is the first headset to combine caller ID display, built-in ring tones, vibrator alert and DSP technology to improve sound quality. Already available at Fone Zone, DigiCall, C2One, Dick Smith Electronics, Optus World, Telstra Licensed Stores, Leading Edge and Crazy Johns, the $199 device is distributed by Force Technology International.
The idea behind the headset is to provide the functions you would normally use on the phone itself. Caller ID info is displayed on a blue backlit LCD display. The display also allows you to view the phone’s call list and menu options for selecting ring tones, ring type, language and Bluetooth connection.
The headset features a jog wheel for volume control and menu navigation, a mute button, and USB connectivity for charging directly from a PC.
On the audio side, the headset features a fully-integrated DSP (digital signal processing) solution which is integrated into the Bluetooth chipset. Along with some other software and smarts, the effect is designed to reduce unwanted noise while also adjusting the volume to accommodate ambient noise levels.
“By incorporating DSP technology, the Jabra BT800 offers superior sound quality by significantly reducing interference from background noises such as traffic or in-car noise.  The headset continually adjusts the volume level based on the ambient background noise, resulting in the incoming voice coming through much clearer.  Since the headset digitally improves the signal, the user would be able to hear the person they are speaking to much better,” said Henry Tai, vice president, Asia Pacific, Jabra.
“The Jabra BT800 Bluetooth headset enables users to do more with their headset than ever before, and is designed for people who want to own the very latest in headset design and innovation.
“With the Bluetooth headset market expected to exceed 15 million headsets in 2004, we believe the Jabra BT800 is well positioned to provide a state-of-the art headset solution for customers who want the most functionality available,” said Tai.
