Telstra is adding to its BlackBerry Connect range with plans to deliver the push email service on the Palm Treo 650 smartphone.

True to its word Palm has made the BlackBerry push email service available on the Treo 650 smartphone and Telstra is the first Australian telco to deliver the service.
Telstra’s general manager of Mobiles, Martin Conneely, said there are more than 2,000 business and government customers using the telco’s mobility solutions. “Many of our customers have realised significant productivity gains and competitive advantage from mobilising business applications for their field workers and some have seen return on investment within three months.
“The benefits of the Palm Treo mobility solution are that it integrates a mobile phone with the BlackBerry push email solution and allows customers to access a wider range of business applications. This means our customers can do more using just the one device.”
Deploying BlackBerry Connect on the Treo 650 enables access to some 29,000 third-party Palm OS applications covering finance, insurance, real estate, healthcare, education, sales force automation and IT management.
The Treo is also capable of viewing Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or PDF documents while the Remote Address Lookup (RAL) allows users to search their corporate directory wirelessly for email addresses without the need to download every name onto the device.
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server integration also brings centralised device management such as “over-the-air” device disablement, password device lock, and Triple DES encryption to Treo 650 devices.
