Research in Motion's BlackBerry email phone is normally associated with hard working busines types that can't bear to be away from work, but aCharity Golf Day held recently showed off a fun side to Blackberry that you might not have expected.
The Annual PixiFoto Foundation Corporate Charity Golf Day held on April 27 at Manly Golf Course in Sydney featured a new Golf scoring application running on the versatile handheld device.
eGolfScore is a new piece of software that will run on a mobile phone, PDA or BlackBerry and was used to allow the corporate hacks to record their scores in real-time as the slashed their way around the course.
Connected using the Optus network, the devices were also able to check on how other teams were progressing. Large screens were also erected at various places on the course for the special day so players could check the leaderboard.
In fact one woman got an email from her Mother in England who was tracking the scores via a Web browser from the other side of the world.
Although the system is currently only available for Charity and corporate events, eGolfscore plans to introduce another version of the product, Individual Scoring Product (ISP), for use in traditional golfing environments.
