Exhibiting at the CeBIT show in Sydney, IP Telephony service provider showed off its service working on HPs iPAQ. As well as the Pocket PC integration, Freshtel also revealed new branding for its wholesale services formerly known as Voicestream. Now called Voicedot the ’white label’ VoIP solution is the system behind the IP Telephony service provided in the UK by supermarket giant Tesco.

Speaking of the iPAQ integration, Freshtel’s CEO Michael Carew said: “This Freshtel developed software provides another step forward in Freshtel’s Internet telephony solutions.

“Until now Internet telephony has been mostly utilised as an alternative to your fixed phone line. Now, with Freshtel’s mobile applications, the mobile phone market also has an emerging challenger”.

The mobile apps allow users to make internet-based telephone calls from mobile handsets much like a standard mobile phone call, but using the device’s data capabilities.

The advantages include free calls between Freshtel’s network users, low cost calls to traditional phone numbers and enhanced messaging services. However, charges for data services may apply over wireless networks such as hotspots or those provided by telecommunications carriers.
