The ExpressCard slots can be used to add memory, wired and wireless communications, multimedia and even security solutions to the notebook. Of course the drawback on such leading edge technology is finding suitable cards to put in the slot.
The entry level pricing of $1499 is based on the TL50 processor with no operating system, 512MB RAM, 40GB hard drive and only a CD-ROM optical.
But the real dream machine from Pioneer is the new DreamBook Power M59. The gigantic 19-inch WSXGA + (1680 x 1050) WideScreen TFT means there’s room for a full sized keyboard.
Again, expect the $4999 starting price to get you the Turion 64x2 TL50 processor, 40GB drive and 512MG RAM, but standard on this machine is a Dual nVidia GeForce Go 7800 High Performance graphics system and an 8x DVD-/+RW Dual Layer optical drive.
Unlike the 8000 series above, the M59 has the traditional PC Card interface as well as a 4 in 1 card reader, 5x USB 2.0 ports, a Mini Firewire port, CATV input, S-Video input/output and DVI port. The sound system should impress with S/PDIF output or 4 speakers plus sub woofer.
