Enterasys Networks which is building its reputation on network security has turned its attention to the WiFi space to deliver RoamAbout, a complete wireless net solution. The solution is available to channel partners and will ship in June 2005.
The idea is to integrate the wireless into the wired infrastructure without compromising security or performance. To do this the RoamAbout system includes a wireless switch system consisting of access points, wireless switches, mobility system software and switch manager software, all designed to seamlessly integrate with Enterasys’ existing access points and wired networking infrastructure.
With intrusion detection and granular policy control the solution the system‘s ‘Acceptable Use Policy’ enables network managers to deploy granular policies down to the individual device and user level. Enterasys claims the Dynamic Intrusion Response is the industry’s first solution that actively responds in real time to incoming threats to the enterprise network. It also implements Trusted End-System policies which prevent vulnerable or infected machines from accessing the network.
