O2's latest Windows Mobile 5.0 PDA/phone runs on an 520MHz XScale processor, weighs only 140 grams and is smaller than a lot of phones.

The latest addition to the Xda Atom family is the new Xda Atom Exec. Available in what the company describes as "gun-metal", the device upgrades the Atom family's heritage with more power and new software.

Retailing at $1229 and available from next month, the Atom Exec measures 58 (W) X 102 (L) X 18.5 (T) mm and is clearly targeted at the business user.

The Intel XScale PXA 27x 520MHz processor feeds off 192MB of expandable memory delivering faster application launch and better multitasking capability.

O2 says the device benefits from Windows Mobile 5.0's enhanced security and direct push email technology which lets you keep your email, calendar, contacts and tasks up-to-date automatically.

Confidential data is secured with the Messaging & Security Feature Pack and businesses will have the option to install compulsory PIN passwords. The device also support remote data wipe in case the thing goes missing. Another feature, called CodeWallet Pro lets you store sensitive information with strong encryption and password protection.

Mobile Office and ActiveSync keeps your desktop in your hand, while a Global Address List feature allows users to access corporate contacts remotely.

The Atom Exec's other new features include a Wireless Manager application which allows you to more easily configure wireless LAN, Bluetooth and the phone's GSM/GPRS/EDGE settings.

"The Xda Atom Exec is a one-of-a-kind device that will appeal to users who wants a stylish mobile handheld that delivers rich mobile office features and applications. It is for customers for whom quick and timely communications are a key to their success, who need to stay in touch wherever they are, and maintain efficiency at all times," said John Featherstone, Vice-President of Sales for South East Asia & Oceania.

When the work is over O2 provides a media dashboard it calls MediaPlus which offers a single interface for the phone's multimedia capabilities.

These include an FM radio, 2.0 mega pixel camera with flash, MP3 player and a Photo Editor application.
