While the Sony Ericsson K610i may not have the premium photographic features of its sibling the K800i, what it lacks in photo features it makes up for with size and weight.

sonyericsson1_k610iYou can still expect the sort of photographic qualities you get in a comparable camera phone from this 2 megapixel device, but the phone falls short of getting the Sony CyberShot branding that the K800i gets.

Taking out features like the image and video stabiliser and 16x digital zoom lens allowed Sony Ericsson to reduce this phone down to a more manageable 16.9 mm. Not the slimmest on the market by any means, but good for a 3G phone and much better than the K800i's 22 mm.

It's shorter too at 102 mm and not as wide (45.2 mm). Oh and it weighs 20 per cent less too at 89 grams.

The K610i is a competent camera phone for the masses with a 4x digital zoom. Video calling and all the other 3G goodies keep you in the picture. The k610i shares some advanced features with the K8100i such as music capabilities and the ability to add soundtracks to the video you shoot.

The phone is a little short on internal memory at 19MB, so support for the Memory Stick Micro storage cards is a must if you plan to use this phone for music or a lot of photo's. Three is offering a 64MB memory stick in its retail bundle, so that should get you started.

The K610i is a superb all rounder. It's a fully featured mobile at an affordable price.

Stereo Bluetooth support would let you lash out on a pair of wireless headphones if you've got music on your mind, or modem capabilities to attach your notebook to the Internet will make this a business phone if you prefer.

The display is a 62K TFD that measures 176x220 pixels.
