Lexar Media has increased the capacity of its Professional 133X
CompactFlash memory cards to 8GB, but it comes at a price.
The high-speed CompactFlash Type 1 card is capable of a
minimum sustained data write speed of 20MB per second.
Lexar Professional cards are speed rated and come in
standardised increments such as 40X, 80X, and 133X (20MBps). The X represents the
transfer rate, and 1X means the card can perform data transfer at 150 KiloBytes
(KB) per second.
An important metric for professional photographers and serious
amateurs who use RAW format. The RAW format uses huge file sizes and the
high-speed file transfer capabilities improve productivity both in the camera
and when transferring files off the card to another storage medium.
It means the camera can write to the card faster allowing
shots to be taken in quick succession and that fast readers can perform
downloads from the camera faster.
Lexar's new 133X 8GB CompactFlash will be available in
August for the recommended retail price of AU$599.
