Toshiba plans to start mass producing micro-SD memory cards
next month with the intention of adding three to four million of the world's
tiniest format storage cards a month.
This story on Forbes
says the sale price of a 1GB card is expected to be about US$85.
Toshiba also plans to release next year a two-gigabyte micro-SD card capable of
storing around 500 songs.
Forbes says that high production costs and a lack of compatible electronic
devices on the market have until now kept Toshiba and other makers of SD cards,
which include Matsushita Electric Industrial Co, from venturing into mass
production.
