The new MOTOSLVR L7c is a straightforward upgrade form the
exiting SLVR that simply adds high-speed EV-DO connectivity. Mainly for the
US-market, the Telstra CDMA network in Australia also supports EV-DO CDMA
1x, so this phone may appear on our shores also.
The upgrade allows for real-time streaming audio and video and
over the air downloads via BREW technology.
The SLVR L7c also has integrated GPS technology so it
supports the coming availability of location-based services.
There aren't alto fo details about the new SLVR L7c, but the original SLVR has a video capable 1.3 megapixel camera, a large,
vivid colour screen, and a healthy 60MB of internal memory. Additional storage
of up to 1G with a removable MicroSD memory card allows for significant storage
capacity. The display is a 176 x 220 pixel (VGA) 1.9-inch TFT LCD.
Video is stored in either H.263, MPEG4, or 3GPP formats. The
phone has Bluetooth, but in the existing model this is not stereo, so you'll be
using the SLVR's speakerphone functionality or plugging in your earbuds to
listen to your MP3s.
The phone supports Java games, has a basic alarm, calculator,
date book and currency converter. Contacts include pictures which also show
with incoming calls.
True to its name, the SLVR is less than 12mm thick which you
would expect from a slim candy bar form factor. The full dimensions are 113.5mm
x 49mm x 11.5mm and the phone weighs a diminutive 96 grams.
The normally Quad Band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) SLVR has a
talktime up to 315 minutes (5.25hrs) and an estimated standby Time up to 345
hours (14+ days). It's not clear at this time whether EV-DO support will affect
these figures.
