Recently listed wireless broadband carrier/reseller BigAir has reached a 10,000 subscriber milestone three months ahead of schedule.

The company has grown from BigAir 7,800 subscribers in March this year adding almost 25 per cent in four months.

Not all the growth has been organic, however. In early July, the company announced it had acquired W Home, a subsidiary of E-Pay (which was once SkyNetGlobal). This deal added 1,000 new customers and around $500,000 in annualised revenues to BigAir's wireless broadband network.

In an earlier acquisition announced in June, the company added 800 iBurst customers when it took over the wireless subscribers signed up by T3 Wireless, a subsidiary of Pacific Internet.

Subscribers are subscribers though and critical mass and market penetration is essential for a company such as BigAir which hopes to establish itself as a major player in the wireless broadband space.

CEO Jason Ashton said the company "previously predicted that we would reach the 10,000 mark by end of October 2006 which was 12 months from the lodgement of our prospectus.  We have hit this target three months ahead of schedule. This is a fantastic achievement for the business."

A licensed carrier in its own right, BigAir operates three high speed wireless networks, primarily providing large data pipes to businesses in Western Sydney.

It is also the the largest provider of customer services on the iBurst mobile wireless network and offers services on the Unwired network which has coverage in Sydney and Melbourne.
