Time for a payback on all those freebie services mobile phone
users have been getting from Yahoo! The company has announced it will start sending
them graphical advertising for the first time as part of a Beta program for its
mobile services.
The first ads will go live later this week and will allow
users to click through the ads to get more information or even place a call
about the offering being pitched to them.
Presumably, Yahoo! Has no plans to pitch in to help pay for
the additional data costs associated with the heavier downloads.
Yahoo! is ramping up advertising on its mobile services.
Last month it launched search adverts.
Yahoo services are available via Australian carriers, but
penetration rates are low and the reach far lower than in the US. The company
will be able to reach literally millions of Americans already using the company's
services on mobile devices.
