Following on from the announcement that Broadcom will supply
802.11 Draft N chipsets and drivers for the Lenovo range of laptops, the
company has revealed that HP is set to announce it too is a customer.
This will bring Broadcom's Intensi-Fi customer list to four
with Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Hewlett Packard all planning to use Broadcom to
deliver Draft N spec wireless connectivity in forthcoming laptops.
Although Hewlett-Packard has not officially announced a Draft
N laptop, Mike Hurlston, vice president of Broadcom, let the cat out of the bag
saying: "we have the green light to say HP will be the fourth [customer for
Draft N]."
Hrulston went on to tell CIO magazine that the
company expects 30 to 40 percent of notebooks to have Draft N capabilities by
the second half of next year.
