Western Digital has done a redesign of its Passport Portable Drive, making them bigger and smaller - naturally. wdfpassport

Available in piano-black and in capacities of 80, 120 and 160 GB, the new drive weighs less than 5 ounces (142g) and comes Google-powered to help you find files easily.

Google software includes Google Desktop Search, Picasa and the Google Toolbar all loaded onto the 5,400 RPM hard drive. A USB 2.0 interface provides the connection to your PC and is the power source, so there's no AC adapter to weigh you down. An optional cable is available for the few systems that limit bus power.

For security the drive contents are encrypted with 128-bit encryption.

Customisable sync software simplifies the synchronisation of personal files and Microsoft Outlook data, Office documents, MP3s, and so on.

"Digital content such as photos, videos and music, as well as documents for work, are emotionally and financially valuable to owners, and it is important that their content travels with them safely and conveniently," said Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD's branded products group.

"WD Passport enables consumers to carry their entire digital portfolio with them in a package small enough to slip into a small pocket and stylish enough to display on a desktop. This is the ultimate personal storage device."

A product specification sheet and photos of WD Passport Portable Drives are available here.

The RRP for the 160GB drive is A$429.
