Toowoomba ISP Bluemaxx has completed the Stage Two roll-out
of its Broadband Connect eligible fixed wireless Internet service.
Stage one, which launched in June this year, covered a 20 km
radius from Toowoomba's city centre (relative to topography) and also offered
broadband speeds to parts of Crows Nest, Rosalie, Jondaryan, Cambooya and
Gatton Shires.
The Stage 2 roll out was completed over the weekend and will
extend coverage significantly to bring in the following areas: Gowrie, Little
Plains, Westbrook, Gowrie Junction, Cutella, Kings Siding, Lilyvale, Kingsthorpe,
Kelvinhaugh, Oakey, Boodua, Jondaryan, Highfields west, Meringandan, Goombungee,
Southbrook, Biddeston, and Wyreema.
It's not mobile connectivity (but we like to hear of
wireless networks popping up about the place) and the plans are sometimes a
little pricey, but you can get symmetric connections and reasonable download
allowances for great prices.
At the entry level a symmetric 256Kbps service will cost you
$29.95 for a 600Mb per month allowance. A 1Mbps plan for $99 gives you 7 Gig
and if you want to go all out, 30Gig of symmetric 2Mbps will cost you $249 30.
However, the company warns that the 2Mbps symmetric service
is not available in all areas, so you will have to check directly with the
company.
You can see the coverage maps for the other services here.
