UK-based mobile VoIP provider, aql has done a marketing deal with leading handset distributor Fone Logistics to supply mobile VoIP to users of the Nokia Eseries through Fone Logistics' base of 400 Nokia resellers in the UK.

aql is one of the rush of providers VoIP News tracked back in September who began offering mobile VoIP services in the UK market. aql, which launched in early September, 2006 and claims to be the first to market with mobile VoIP services for Nokia Eseries phones has done a deal with Fone Logistics, one of only four accredited Nokia distributors that will see new phone buyers prompted with information on aql's mobile VoIP services.

Offering free connection, set-up and zero monthly charges, aql will allow them to make free calls over the Internet from the same handset and mobile number as their existing GSM service.

Dr Adam Beaumont, Managing Director of aql comments: "Mobile VoIP has huge potential for many types of business communications, and offers a flexible, enterprise-class mobile communications solution.  We look forward to working with Fone Logistics in order to penetrate the business market through a mature and established channel."

Julien Parven, Director of Marketing at Fone Logistics said "We chose to partner with aql because it was the first to market with mobile VoIP for the Nokia Eseries, and unlike some of its competitors, offers a clean solution which works ‘straight out of the box' rather than asking users to download additional software.  We liked aql's straightforward approach to what is cutting edge technology for today's mobile communications."

For set-up, users simply text the word ‘Nokia' to aql shortcode ‘64446' and a response text automatically configures the handset's VoIP settings, registers the customer's mobile number with aql, and enables free peer-to-peer calling.  Reduced call costs to fixed-line and GSM mobiles can be made by purchasing additional call credit. Calls to GSM cost from as little as 8p a minute and calls to landlines from 1p a minute.

The company is expecting to add the Nokia N80i to the list of phones it supports once it becomes available in the UK next year.
