Nokia Announces Base Line CDMA Phones Print E-mail

Not that we are likely to see them downunder, but Nokia has announced to new CDMA handsets at the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong. Basic utilities phones, the handsets focus on voice and text messaging. The entry level devices are ideal for first-time phone users in Asia-Pacific, China, Latin America, the Middle-East and Africa, says the company.

The Nokia 1325 has a 64k colour display  and supports ringtones and wallpapers, but no camera or MP3 player. The handset does have integrated handsfree speakerphone and a voice recorder capable of storing up to 90 seconds.

The 1325 can store up to 400 contacts and 150 messages and is pretty light at 71 grams, reflecting its CDMA heritage.

The Nokia 1325 will ship in "select markets" is competitively priced and has a talk time of up to 3.5 hours and a standby time of up to 6.5 days.

The Nokia 1265 has similar battery life expectancy and only a black-and-white display.

The 1265 has predictive text and 32-Polyphonic MIDI capabilities for ringtone, an integrated handsfree speaker and a 60-second voice recorder.

Essentials such as a large contact phonebook, calendar, calculator and alarm clock are also included in this new device. 

Again, the device is for select markets  within China, Asia-Pacific, Middle-East Africa and Latin America during the 1st quarter of 2007.
