Telstra will begin offering the latest Research In Motion, the BlackBerry Pearl from today.
Optus and Vodafone both announced they were carrying the phone two weeks ago, with Vodafone putting the phone in stores before the end of November and Optus promising an early December kick off.

Hutchison 3 mobile will not be offering the GSM only phone.

Sporting the sort of features found in other lifestyle consumer devices, camera, MP3 player, a healthy storage allowance and a pocketable form factor of 89 grams and dimensions of 107x50x14.5mm, the Pearl enhances RIM's traditionally business focus with a touch of lifestyle.

"Despite being one of the smallest and lightest smartphones available, the BlackBerry Pearl offers the full BlackBerry experience that has become so popular around the world. We're pleased to be working with Telstra to expand its BlackBerry portfolio to include the highly-acclaimed BlackBerry Pearl," said Norm Lo, Vice President, Asia Pacific for Research In Motion.

Group Managing Director for Telstra Business, Deena Shiff said Telstra was offering its customers access to new applications such as spell checking, an email preview capability, and the ability to print emails and attachments to any fax machine in the country and bill it to your Telstra Mobile account.

"Telstra's BlackBerry Individual Solution customers can also access Sensis' Whereis" location based technology via one click and unlimited internet browsing on BlackBerry devices at no extra charge," said Shiff.

Telstra is offering small and medium business customers a new plan to encourage the take up of wireless technology. The Small Business Edition (SBE) software has been dropped from A$2,500 to A$500 allowing customers to adopt up to 15 BlackBerry Pearl smartphones at a lower upfront cost.

The BlackBerry Pearl" is available with BlackBerry Individual Solution from A$99.95 (A$60 voice plan and A$39.95 for BlackBerry data Plan) per month over 24 months for 'all-you-can-eat' email and internet browsing.

The BlackBerry Pearl" is available at A$199 upfront for BlackBerry Enterprise Solution customers taking up a 24 month contract for A$89.95 per month. This gives you 'all-you-can-eat' wireless email, calendar, contacts and internet browsing.

Telstra customers can also purchase the phone outright for A$679 in conjunction with either a BlackBerry Individual Solution or BlackBerry Enterprise Solution.
