Ubiquitous support for messaging clients, no software downloads
and over-the-air provisioning enable operators to drive faster
uptake; New end-user features improve consumer experience
PRESS RELEASE From 3GSM World Congress: SAN FRANCISCO/BARCELONA - February 13, 2007 - Critical Path,
Inc. (OTC: CPTH), a leading provider of messaging software and
services, today announced it is unveiling Memova(r) Mobile 3.0 -
the latest version of its consumer-oriented mobile email and content
solution - at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (Stand
2D20, Hall 2). Building on the existing Memova Mobile platform,
version 3.0 introduces extended phone client support, while offering
new ways to improve the consumer experience and increase subscriber
usage of mobile email and content.
Despite high consumer demand for mobile email and the increasing
proliferation of digital content, most mobile email and content
services are too costly and difficult for the average consumer to set
up and use.
What's more, operators are faced with the challenge of
supporting multiple email technologies as new handsets and client
protocols continuously emerge. In order to successfully drive
mass-market adoption, operators need a solution that better addresses
the unique needs of consumers and supports all of the prevalent and
emerging messaging clients on handsets.
With the launch of version 3.0, Memova Mobile brings its simple,
consumer-oriented experience to virtually any of today's popular
consumer mobile phones. Augmenting existing compatibility with MMS
and SMS handsets, the latest version of Memova Mobile introduces
support for the major IETF and OMA push email client protocols and is
designed to support new client standards as they emerge. As a result,
services powered by Memova Mobile work with the phones consumers are
already using, and services can be provisioned over the air with no
software to download.
"Memova Mobile is client agnostic, which means operators no
longer have to bet on a single technology when choosing a consumer
mobile email solution, " said Robert Zuber, Chief Mobile
Strategist, Critical Path.
"With Memova Mobile, operators can focus on what's most
important - providing the best user experience possible - while
deploying a flexible solution that will work with just about any
phone."
Along with broad messaging client support, Memova Mobile 3.0
delivers new features designed to simplify the user experience and
drive uptake, including a new Web-based account management tool, the
ability to specify when and how much email/content is delivered to
the phone, and interactive content uploading. These new features
expand upon the platform's existing capabilities, which make it
simple for users to activate mobile email services on the phone or a
Web interface, as well as easily allow and block email senders and
discover and subscribe to content channels.
Critical Path expects Memova Mobile 3.0 to be generally available
within the next 60 days. Product demonstrations are being held at the
3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, February 12-15 (Stand 2D20 -
Hall 2), and will also be held at CTIA Wireless in Orlando, March
27-29 (Booth 803.)
