PRESS RELEASE From 3GSM World Congress:
Barcelona, 14th February, 2007 – ip.access, the market leader
in cellular picocell technologies is delighted to announce that
Oyster 3G, its home access femtocell product, has won the Best
Radio Access Product category of the annual GSM Awards, the mobile
industry’s most competitive and hard-fought awards.
ip.access was in prestigious company in its category with
industry giants Nokia and Cisco also shortlisted. Referring to the
Oyster 3G femtocell’s attributes and capabilities, the Awards
Judges said: ‘A product that brings the 3G inbuilding
coverage issue to the forefront – this has the potential to
change the way operators think about their networks’.
ip.access is particularly delighted that its femtocell product
offering has achieved this level of recognition from a panel of
industry leaders and mobile communication experts.
“The whole team at ip.access is absolutely delighted both
to have won the award and to have done so against such illustrious
competition.” Said Stephen Mallinson, CEO of ip.access who
received the Award at a presentation at the 3GSM World Congress in
Barcelona.
“We are firm believers in the strength of our product and
in the potential in the femtocell market. The fact that the Oyster
3G has been recognised through this award gives us great momentum
and is testament to the huge amount of work that we have put into
making ip.access the market leader for in-building picocell and
femtocell technology.”
Operators using ip.access’ Oyster 3G will be able to offer
their customers a powerful converged product in the home, which
will allow them to capture revenues that normally go to fixed-line
service providers. In addition, using ip.access’ technology
they can combat cell shrinkage by adding capacity where the users
are, and deliver a high-quality 3G experience while reducing
backhaul costs.
In recognition of ip.access’ success in winning the Best
Radio Access Product award, Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association,
said: “Achieving success in the global mobile industry
requires a combination of innovation, expertise, tenacity and
confidence – but the key ingredient is a knowledge of what
the market needs to move forward the new mobile era.
"The 2007
winners are recognised as having turned that knowledge into
practical services and solutions that capture mobile users’
needs. My congratulations on behalf of the GSMA – we wish you
every continued success.”
