PRESS RELEASE From 3GSM World Congress:
13 Feb 2007, Exradia, a new company headquartered in London,
launched today at 3GSM Barcelona. The company has been established
to work with telecommunications and wireless technology providers
around the world to bring to market products that protect people
from the potentially harmful effects of radiation emitted from
mobile phones and other wireless electronic devices. Exradia has
the sole rights to patented technology proven to prevent the
biological effects caused by man-made electromagnetic fields (EMFs)
from cell phones and other wireless devices. It is these man-made
biological effects that have recently been directly linked to
health concerns.
Exradia will be providing a range of products and services for
manufacturers, retailers, value added resellers and employers who
want to minimise risks to the health of their customers and staff.
Exradia’s ‘My Wi-Guard’ technology can be
provided through mobile cell-phone and laptop batteries
incorporating the technology, co-development of Exradia protected
products, technology licensing agreements, own-label products, and
‘My Wi-Guard’ family and business mobile cell phone
tariff plans.
The launch is timely given the growing
concern around the world that long-term use of mobile phones and
electronic devices may create health problems. Jim Lawler, Chief
Executive of Exradia says: “Our guardian ‘My
Wi-Guard’ technology provides people with the choice of
enjoying unconstrained freedom to use these technologies with
confidence in a wireless world.”
Recent studies have suggested there might
be a link between heavy mobile phone use and certain types of
cancer in the head and eye, as well as potential impacts on male
fertility. Most major man-made causes of illnesses have taken more
than a decade to become apparent. Exradia’s management
believe that none of the research undertaken so far addresses
long-term use of mobile phones and other wireless technologies.
Given this situation, Lawler says; “Our industry should raise
its social responsibility standards by applying sensible risk
management. Providing people with the choice to protect themselves
will ultimately safeguard the health of the industry”.
Lawler’s view of the Exradia
‘My Wi-Guard’ technology is simple – it is the
new digital airbag and seatbelt for the 21st century wireless
highway.
Exradia:
• Exradia was formed in 2006 and
launched its product and service offering in 2007. The company has
offices in the USA and the UK.
• Exradia has exclusive worldwide
rights over the only solution that has been scientifically proven
to neutralise at its source the potentially harmful biological
effects of radiation emitted from mobile phones, wireless networks
and other electronic devices. Its technology differentiates
products, protects consumers from potential health risks relating
to adverse biological changes and helps manufacturers and providers
of electronic and telecommunications products to manage risks
associated with low-level electromagnetic field (EMF) emissions.
Concerns in the UK
• In 2005 Sir William Stewart,
chairman of the UK’s Health Protection Agency, called on
parents to ban children under eight from using mobile phones.
• A 2005 MORI survey of 2000 people
commissioned by the UK’s Department of Trade & Industry
found that two thirds of people believe the risks of emissions from
mobile phones outweigh the benefits.
• Prof Lawrie Challis, a world expert
on mobile phone radiation and chairman of the UK government-funded
Mobile Telecommunications Health Research body has determined that
recent research shows ‘hints’ of potential problems and
the need for a long-term study. He has announced an intended
long-term study of 200,000 volunteers looking at links between
brain tumours and diseases such as Parkinson’s and
Alzheimer’s.
The Research Environment
• A study by researchers from
Fatebenefratelli hospital in Milan showed that the radiation from
mobile phones excited the neurons in the part of the brain closest
to the phones. A 2002 Finnish study also found that electromagnetic
radiation of the type emitted from mobile phones, affects human
brain tissue. A Spanish study by scientists based at Madrid’s
University Complutense, discovered that a cell’s
non-spherical shape increases the intensity of the electric field
generated within it by a mobile phone.
• A study by The Radiation and
Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland found that people who had
regularly used mobiles for longer than ten years were 39% per cent
more likely to develop nervous system tumours, called gliomas, near
to where they hold their phones.
• A 2004 study by the Institute of
Environmental medicine at Karolinska Institute, Sweden, concluded
that ten or more years of mobile phone use increases the risk of
acoustic neuroma by 3.9 times and that the risk increase was
confined to the side of the head where the phone was usually
held.
• A US study in 2006, by The
Cleveland Clinic, Ohio found that men who used a mobile for more
than four hours a day had a 25% lower sperm count than men who
never used a mobile. The men with highest usage also had greater
problems with sperm quality, with the swimming ability of sperm
down by a third. They had a 50% drop in the number of properly
formed sperm, with just one-fifth looking normal under a
microscope.
• A German study in 2001 by the
University of Essen found that people suffering from uveal melanoma
(a rare cancer of the eye) had used cellular phones and other
equipment deploying radio waves more often than a control group of
healthy patients.
• A large scale Danish study
published by the Danish Institute of Cancer Epidemiology (DICE) in
2006 was widely hailed by media as providing no correlation between
phone usage and incidence of cancer. However, DICE’s Head of
Research has said the study does not prove mobile phones are safe
and that the study did not cover long-term implications of mobile
phone use nor impacts on under 18’s nor areas other than the
head.
Exradia Technology
• The Exradia technology is the only
scientifically proven patented solution to neutralize potentially
harmful EMF emissions from electrical devices at source. It is
based on Noise Field Technology, which superimposes a low frequency
randomised magnetic field over the man-made regular electromagnetic
field emissions generated by electronic equipment. This added noise
field results in both ELF and RF electromagnetic emissions
generated by man-made devices appearing to living cells as
irregular, mimicking the random low level electromagnetic fields,
which tend to occur in nature. Randomised low-level electromagnetic
fields do not cause biological changes to human cells.
• Exradia’s technology can be
integrated into most electronic equipment. The technology can be
implemented in a variety of methods and typically comprises of a
custom chip, which generates the noise field signal that drives a
wire coil to produce the noise field itself. It can also be
incorporated into the network cabling within offices or living
spaces to protect individuals against EMF emissions from multiple
sources. Product development is focusing primarily on mobile
cell-phones and DECT phones, PC’s and WiFi laptops, wireless
networks, Tetra radios, Bluetooth headsets, radio base stations and
infrastructure within wireless offices and homes.
