An embarrassment of riches for V8 fans this year with two mobile networks now announcing extensive coverage of the Supercar season.
Last week we tracked the announcement by Vodafone that is will be broadcasting V8 supercar coverage on its 3G mobile network. Now we've discovered Telstra plans to get into the act as well with live streaming of every race to its own Telstra 3G mobiles. Not only is Telstra using its licensing deal to ensure mobile coverage, the company has announced that BigPoind will also provide an online presence for the coverage. BigPond Group Managing Director, Justin Milne is not leaving any doubt in anybody's mind that Telstra has "exclusive" rights to the race season. "Our exclusive coverage means fans won't miss a second of the action, with exclusive access to every round - online and on their mobile," he said in a press statement. That's 'exclusive twice in one sentence. The difference between what Telstra can offer and the coverage Vodafone has planned is the live action. Telstra has access to live coverage of the qualifying rounds as well as live in-car coverage and a simulcast of every race! "And your favourite highlights will always be at your fingertips, with our new interactive screensaver featuring news and video RSS feeds, event countdown and video highlights that are updated at every round," said Milne. "We've introduced a race car tracker alongside the live in-car coverage, so fans can follow where their favourite driver is on the track, as well as how they're performing," he said. "Along with the exclusive new features, fans can access ten years of video to relive round highlights, the thrills and spills and all the moments of glory and despair," Mr Milne said. Telstra's PanelBeaters webcast and podcast program was also back this season with the first show hosted by Neil Crompton live from Clipsal last Friday.Related news items Newer news items
