Vodafone
Australia has responded to 3 Mobile's newX-Series plans with new
price points and subsidised hardware.
Moving
quickly to respond to the 3 X-Series pressure, Vodafone has become
the first carrier to blink cutting its data pricing plans from April
1.
The
carrier has also announced new hardware deals offering new USB modems
and datacards, which it will give away to users signing up to a two
year contract.
New
subscribers will get the VMC data card or USB modem for $0 if they
sign up to Vodafone's 1GB or 2GB data bundle plans. Opting for a
lower bandwidth allowance Vodafone will still subsidise the price.
Edward
Goff, general manager Business Markets at Vodafone Australia,
comments: "Keeping your business and staff connected to critical
data while on the move has never been more affordable. We're
offering a new 2GB data plan to ensure our heavy users continue to
receive exceptional value for money."
"In
addition, Vodafone customers can enjoy the benefits of our network
optimisation. This allows for higher compression of data, squeezing
more data in to their monthly plan and giving our customers more bang
for their buck. This means, on average, our customers will see their
data throughput compressed by around 30 per cent^ - an exceptional
way of maximising our customers' value for money."
Quick
and easy to set up, the new USB modem includes Mac and PC-compatible
software. Mac and the latest Intel Macs are supported, as are PCs
running Microsoft's Vista.
For
customers purchasing the USB modem outright, the price has been
reduced from $399.00 (incl. GST) to $349.00 (incl. GST), a saving of
$50.00.
Where
data usage exceeds the allocated amount, month to month customers
will be charged at 30c/MB or 10c/MB for contract customers. Minimum
costs and early termination charges for termination within the
contract term apply. Included data is only available for the month
and will not roll over.
