Mobile phone tracking technology is now more accurate thanks to a new
Australian service that enables the tracking of mobile phones in real
time with integrated new GPS technology to pin point field staff down
to incredible accuracy.
It may not help when your phone is lost down the back of the sofa,
but the new LocateMy Phone service claims to be able to pinpoint a
phone to within 5 meters.
With new AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) mobile phones coming
onto the Australian market within months, service provider, LocateMy
Phone has already added
features to enable the more accurate tracking. Motorola and Nokia are
both actively promoting GPS
integration in their new handsets, enabling a far great degree of
accuracy.
Normal mobile telephones can be pin pointed down to between 200-600m in
metro and CBD locations, whereas AGPS can improve the accuracy by 40
times.
"We receive over 100 enquiries per day from companies all around the
country looking for mobile phone tracking technology", said Wade
Short, Managing Director of LocateMy Communications Group. "Our
research shows that the majority of businesses looking for the
technology are small to medium business, primarily concerned with staff
productivity issues."
The LocateMy Communications Group primarily offers a service that
enables employers to manage their field staff far more efficiently.
With a few clicks, a mobile phone's location is displayed on a map,
useful information for businesses to manage and improve service to
clients but particularly employee productivity.
"Some of our clients utilise tracking devices to monitor vehicles and
other assets such as shipping containers and forklifts, these tracking
devices that migrate into the LocateMy Mobile service are incredibly
cheap, hence the popularity" said Short.
The LocateMy Phone service finds mobile phones, but the LocateMy Asset
service locates company assets within
200m in CBD areas, within 600m in metro suburbs and within about 1.2km
in country areas. Powered by battery or a 12v power source, the
LocateMy Asset hardware is a compact piece of equipment, smaller than a
pack of cards.
