Research, conducted by ACNielsen for Motorola has found that Australian consumers rate
Motorola as a design leader in developing sleek, fashionable handsets
that offer great value for money while scoring high for dependability.
The survey found that 21 per cent of adult Australians already own a Motorola phone and more than 30 per cent of
them have owned it for more than a year. Some, 15 per cent said they
have owned their Motorola phone for three years or more.
Other findings in the report were that 42 per cent of survey respondents who have purchased a Motorola phone
listed sleek handset design as the number one standout feature, while
reliable functionality with an easy to use interface was ranked second
with 36 percent of respondents.
The
survey also found that 40 percent of respondents chose ‘best value for
money' as the factor that most impacted their purchase, while another
30 percent chose Motorola's reputation for reliability.
55 percent of
respondents also said they had noticed an increased frequency of
people adopting Motorola handsets since making their initial Motorola
handset purchasing.
According to Steve Amiet, National Marketing Manager for
Motorola Australia & New Zealand, the number of Motorola handsets
sold increased significantly from 2005 - 2006.
"In
the last 18 months, Motorola has experienced significant growth, partly
due to the incredible success of the MOTORAZR V3x. Customer acceptance
of the Motorola brand has been amazing," noted Amiet.
"In addition,
despite the massive increase of Motorola phones on the market, our
service performance has actually improved, with the number of repairs
remaining better than typical industry expectations, and in proportion
to the quantity of handsets sold."
"This
year Motorola aim to improve the speed of repairs even further, with
additional Motorola ServiceOne centres being planned for WA and SA, to
compliment existing centres in Australia's eastern capital cities."
Amiet would be pleased to hear somany loyal Moto owners have had their handsets for 3 years or more. They are clearly due for an upgrade and given Motorola's global financial performance over the past 12 months there is significant pressure to increase sales. The copmany reported a Quarterly loss of US$181 million for its most recent three months of trading.
