The Apple MacBook, Cupertino's consumer laptop offering is now
available with Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs a standard Gig of RAM and big
thumping hard drives capable of storing way more than your iPod. The
company's switch to Intel processors has meant far more frequent
updates compared to when it had to wait up to a year for newprocessor
offerings to shuffle of the PowerPC fab, but as a consequence teach new
release is only a marginal improvement on earlier models. So a Warning: the following specifications may disappoint some viewers.
One of the big improevments users will discover is the shift to 802.11n wireless networking. Though thisstandard is still draft it promises up to five times the performance and twice the range of the existing standard 802.11g, though you will need a 802.11n Airport too.
Just an inch thick, the MacBooks fhave a "gorgeous 13-inch glossy widescreen display" and come in three color-coded models so everybody know how much you paid for yours.
The US$1,099 2.0GHz
Core Duo machine and the US$1,299 2.16 GHz MacBook models are both traditional Apple bathroom white. If you get the US$1,499 2.16 GHz MacBook
model you graduate to piano black.
One thing we really like about the MacBook is Apple's
MagSafe Power Adapter that magnetically connects the power cord to the
latopw ans safely disconnects rather than breaking when if you give it a tug.
"The MacBook is a huge hit with customers, and is
one of the reasons that Mac sales are growing three times faster than
PC sales," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of
Worldwide Product Marketing.
"The newMacBook is faster, has even more
memory and storage, and is an ideal notebook for customers' growing
library of digital music, photos and movies."
